After some struggling to find the entrance in a wood, we found something like a canyon with a stream flowing into a cave. Entered to be met by a very low, stony, wet unpleasant flat out crawl. Found a T-junction and went downstream into a wet stony crawl. This crawl terminated in another low, wetter crawl with some stones and silt. This continued for the rest of what we saw of the cave, interspersed with some narrow canyons and lots of pretty bits and occasional small climbs down. Got to a place where the cave had ‘shattered’ somewhat, then became a well decorated grotto. Jon found the way on through a 20m low wet crawl, waited ’til we were all in it and opted to tell us his lamp had failed. Naturally, all concerned were horrified and disappointed that we would be unable to continue in such a pleasant cave. We returned slowly and gladly found the exit after some time. If you like Ireland and you like caving, keep it that way, don’t mix them in this cave.

[Adam’s bit:] Route finding tip: If in doubt pick the wettest, grottiest route.

Choice between crawling or walking? -> crawl.
