Present: Anthony, Jenny, Al, Stacey, James C

Caving. It’s just not funny anymore. Jenny and Anthony set off early (well, before 3.30) to rig. After a while everyone else set off to find Lancaster Hole. Anthony selflessly hung around at the re-belay to watch everyone down and we made it to the bottom OK. Al, Stacey & James wandered off to the collonnades after getting lost despite reassurance from Anthony that we couldn’t miss it. Found them, wandered past and found a squalid crawl that we’d all have been happy following someone but not leading through, so we turned back. Taught the novices that photo trips are really crap, found Jenny and Anthony who had got lost. Told them the way on! [Lier. We weren’t lost you were! Jenny ]

We went to the graveyard series, where there were two James’, which was a bit scarey. Lots of pretty formations to wander around and crawl through, and some not so pretty cavers to look at (and some pretty ones too, just so’s I don’t get hit). Left the graveyard series to look after my funky new led light until we returned there again, and Anthony decided to head out for London whilst the rest of us chose to look for Slug World. Anthony reassured us again that it was so named cos the guy who found it was called slug. Beg to differ now, I think its cos you have to pretend to be a slug to get there. Anyhow, it was well worth the tight grotty crawl to get there, and we all said ooh, and aah, much like on bonfire night.

There wasn’t a great deal else to see, and time was running on quickly, so we all went home (and I found out why Anthony didn’t like waiting at the rebelay) to live happily ever after. Well, we went to the pub and found a chippy in Richmond anyway.

If anyone finds a cool light in the graveyard series, it has a nice home in Durham and would love to come back…
