Al and Sian drove us all to Knock fell. Unfortunately its nowhere near Bernies so we had to make do without the usual breakfast and faffing and buying new, shiny gear. Got changed in ‘chilly’ conditions and set off up the hill to find the mystery cave, unexplored by dusa. We knew the entrance was in a sink hole on the left of the path. But the fog came down and we couldnt see anything. Then the hailstones came down too, which was a bit more painful than the fog. The patches of snow lying on the ground gave us hints that praps if we were sane we’d have been elsewhere! We found a collapse in the hillside which we debated might be the entrance but after further investigation decided it definately wasnt! After an hour and a half of wandering around, we finally gave up and went back to the car for a grade 5 change. Afterwards we all went to the pub where we were met by unfriendly dogs and a more friendly bar man who fed us hot things, or beer to warm us up. Then we went home, somewhat pissed off, vowing to return, with the myserious caverns of Knock fell still remaining a myth.
