Massive attack of phaff today. Literally hours were spent working out what to do after breakfast. Eventually, Ralph, Ian and Stacey made up their mind and settled for Rhino Rift, given as it is advertised as ‘the Yorskhire pothole that got lost’. Well it was evidently very lost, as we walked the length of the wood looking for it. We probably should have looked at a map or something. Once we’d found the cave, we hadn’t sufficient time to get beyond the second pitch. The first pitch has a mammoth deviation not far from the top, much to our amusement/consternation. But it was enough – our appetites were whetted by the huge sculpted shafts and we decided to come back the next day.
