SRT Weekend 2 (2026/27)
21 November – 22 November
I hope all of you enjoyed your freshers trips (for those who haven’t done one yet, do not fret, the dates will be released shortly) and would like to continue with the club! If so, then you should seriously consider signing up to one of our SRT Weekends!
On these weekends we teach you how to go up and down on a rope using SRT technique. It is vital you learn SRT if you would like to continue caving with the club, as the vast majority of Yorkshire caving requires it.
The weekends generally go as follows:
- You meet us at the SU early on Saturday morning, and we then drive over to the caving hut.
- On the Saturday we will train you on the SRT training wall inside the hut. We then eat a Michelin star level meal for dinner and get a restful nights sleep before the Sunday.
- On the Sunday, you will use your newly gained SRT skills down an actual cave! The caves we take you down are very simple, and we will be closely watching you as you go down.
- We then drive back home to Durham on the Sunday – potentially in time for dinner.
You will need a sleeping bag for this, as the caving hut does not provide bed sheets.
Tickets will release soon.
(Includes travel, food, accomodation, and gear hire.)
